Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to create a tabletop RPG that explores the franchise’s apocalyptic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to begin in April of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an announcement.

Initial offerings will include a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and several deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was released in NYC, sending the nation into turmoil. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, turning the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents enter the story.

Work on the RPG has been in progress for about several years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to reach a broader market, specifically in the United States. Manufacturing will start immediately following the campaign, with shipping projected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and strategic approach. Players use skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, players select a single “result die” from the group.
  • This dice is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Engagements Focus On Tactical Placement and Awareness

Battles stress positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the source material. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact dice rolls. This system is designed to reward coordination and clever tactics instead of simple statistics.

A Thematic Wound System

The way injuries is managed introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a injury limit; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent collapses, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They may still move and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state seen in video game shooters.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A free Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It includes a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group spearhead the hunt for a missing medical team and work to stop an attack by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings are expected to be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
